Characters in Ravensgate will receive experience awards for fighting villains even if they do not capture them. Villains who get away will count for 10% of their standard experience value, plus any ad-hoc awards for (a.) role-playing, (b.) innovation and (c.) protecting innocents. If the GM believes that a hero or group of heroes were given no other alternative but to kill a villain, and did so, then experience will be awarded as if it were a battle that did not result in the villain's capture. [Exceptions to this are automatons and sentient machines that cannot be knocked out, or undead creatures. Full experience will be awarded in these cases.] Conversely, heroes may receive a standard award based on one-fifth to one-half their experience value if they avoid a fight they clearly will lose, either physically or politically. The standard rules will apply for unwarranted or unreasonable killing of villains. Characters in Ravensgate will not be able to donate money in exchange for experience points. However, donation of reward money can result in a Positive Charisma Roll. There will be a limit, so multiple and/or lavish donations are not likely to count. Characters with Enhanced Charisma A and B will be allowed to roll against their base Charisma, not their enhanced trait, when determining the success or failure of Charisma rolls. |
